A Self-Imprint
My boyfriend took me to see a broadway show, Wicked, at the Gershwin theatre. It's been a year since I've seen another broadway show. The last show I watched was Rent, which was quite fun as compared to the movie. We later dined at Carmines on 44th Street (NYC). It is an authentic Italian restaurant that serves family-size portions. We ordered one Penne Alla Vodka and a side of sausages. Not only did we enjoy the show, we had a very, very filling dinner. Before all this we filled up at Chikurin for lunch. I had the Oyako Don, a Japanese dish, that has slices of chicken, onions, and carrots mixed with soy sauce and one egg over rice. It was my first time trying something different other than the usual (i.e. Chicken or Salmon Teriyaki). The Oyako Don tasted very familiar, almost like home-cooked comfort food. I learned by the way of the all mighty search engine, Google, that oyako means parent and child which is equivalent to the chicken and egg found in this dish. I thought that was quite an interesting piece of information. Anyhow, I had a great night out and this is one of the few times I have really enjoyed my birthday. =] Pictures soon to come....
